FAQs

What insurance do you take?

We accept most PPO dental plans so please give the practice a call to find out more about your specific dental insurance coverage.  As of January 2018, we are considered an in-network provider with numerous dental PPO plans. Again, please contact our office to find out if we are in-network with your dental insurance. If you happen to have a DHMO plan, we cannot participate with your insurance as these types of plans dictate a specific dental provider you MUST see.  These DHMO plans do not have an out-of-network benefit.  We know insurance can be confusing so we’re happy to assist you in answering any questions you may have about your specific eligibility and we will file your dental insurance claim for you.

Are you in-network?

Yes! We are an in-network provider with numerous PPO dental plans but the best way to confirm if we are in-network with your specific plan is to give our office a call at (301) 698-0044.  If by chance we are considered "out-of-network" with your dental plan, you can still use your PPO insurance at our office and did you know...MOST preventative services such as your hygiene appointment with the doctor's exam are covered 100% by most plans.  And at each appointment, as a courtesy to you, we'll file your dental insurance claim for you so you don't have to! We strive to make sure our patients are maximizing their dental insurance benefits.

Why should I come to Monocacy Valley Dental?

At Monocacy Valley Dental we only offer high quailty dental care while treating our patients like they are part of our family.  We pride ourselves on getting to know our patients personally and make treatment recommendations based on our patients' individual needs and not what their insurance dictates. We also have some of the latest technology and offer many treatment options in-house such as implants, surgical extractions, short-term orthodontics, whitening, as well as traditional treatment options. And if you're scared of the dentist...no worries!  Patton, the dental therapy bulldog is happy to supply kisses and snuggles throughout your entire visit!

I don’t have dental insurance. What are my options?

We always try to work with our patients when it comes to finances. We offer discounts for cash/check payments made at time of appointment. We also offer financing alternatives such as CareCredit. Our front desk coordinators will always review your treatment plan and financing options with you before check out. You are also welcome to schedule a free consult with Dr. Motz to review your dental health needs and develop a treatment plan that you both can agree on.

How does dental insurance work?

We will file any procedure that you have completed here at our office with your dental insurance company. It is important to recognize that every dental insurance plan has different coverages and limitations so not every treatment will be covered by your insurance. We will do our best to determine your coverage ahead of time so that we can provide you with a estimate of the amount that  will be your responsibility after insurance but this is only an estimate and not guaranteed.

Do you treat children?

Yes! We welcome young patients from the age of three years old and up. It’s important to start caring for your oral health early! All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during an office visit.

Are you accepting new patients?

Absolutely! As a new patient, your first appointment will include a comprehensive exam, cleaning and may include X-rays. Following the exam, the dentist will review any X-rays and needed treatment. Our entire team will make sure all of your questions have been answered, your treatment plan was clearly reviewed with you, and help you schedule your future appointments.

If you’re unsure about your dental needs and want to meet the dentist first, you can request a free consultation with the dentist where he will review your oral health and then create a comprehensive treatment plan.
